Trumbull
Lake Campground is located just north of the resort about
100 yards. It is nestled in tall Lodgepole pines and overlooks
Trumbull Lake. It has 45 sites; half are by reservation, the
other half on a first-come basis. Reservations dates are approximately
June 25 through September 8th. Campground is at an elevation
of 9600', and the evenings are cool. Trumbull usually opens around
June 7 and closes by October 16th, weather permitting.
WESTrek is responsible for operating the facility.
National Forest Recreation Reservations handles all sites 1-877-444-6777.
Hooks-up not available for motor-homes, or trailers. Modern vault toilets were installed and also bear boxes to provide security for your food. Check the web-site for fees. Campground is on a one-half reservation and the remainder on a first-come basis with fees for all sites.
The road to the campground from US 395 is paved, but the campground
road is dirt.
Virginia Creek also has camping sites (dispersed camping) along
the creek with new vault toilets, fire rings and bear boxes. Fire permits are required but there are no fees for camping. Camping
sites are clearly marked. Please check signs for length of stay.
